The difference bettween a Jack Russel Terrier and a Parson Russel Terrier is the Parson Russel Terrier has Longer legs and therfore is not as stocky as the Jack Russel terrier, but because the Parson Russel Terrier has longer legs it is also a little faster Than the Jack Russel terrier. The parson is recognised by the Kennel Club, it is a "pedigree dog" with a breed standard. The jack russell comes in many shapes and sizes, it is not recognised by the K.C. and has no breed standard. They both can have rough, broken or smooth coats.

This breed is well known for being industrious, hard working and energetic it is mainly white with black tan markings or a mixture af all 3 colours Jack Russell Terriers were originally used as working dogs, often to flush out vermin from holes in the ground. This working background is what gives the Terrier their hard-working and inquisitive nature. they normally measuring between 10–14 inches at the withers.

The Parson Terrier is a variation on the standard Jack Russell breed and the two are often confused. Parsons have the same energetic character as Jack Russells but have slightly different physical attributes. They have long legs which were once useful for keeping up with horses while on a fox hunt, but also a small body which meant they were able to get into small gaps such as rabbits warrens and fox dens. it is mainly white with black tan markings or a mixture af all 3 colours they normally measuring between 10–16 inches at the withers.
